It’s easy to fall in love with pretty pictures on Airbnb. But what really matters is what other travelers say.

Before you book, scroll down and read a handful of recent reviews. Look for honest comments about cleanliness, comfort, and accuracy. Did guests say the apartment was as nice as it looked in photos? Was the host easy to reach? Did the Wi-Fi actually work?

If you notice the same complaint more than once, that’s a red flag. On the other hand, if people keep praising the host’s hospitality, you’ve likely found a winner.

Double-Check the Location

Airbnb’s map can sometimes be sneaky. What looks “close to downtown” might actually be a long walk (or a few bus rides) away.

And if something goes wrong, message your host right away. Most Airbnb hosts are great about fixing things fast when you communicate politely.

Check the Total Price and House Rules

Here’s something a lot of people forget: the price you first see on Airbnb isn’t always the price you’ll pay. There can be cleaning fees, service fees, and taxes added at the end. Always look at the final total before booking so you’re not caught off guard.

Also, take a moment to read the house rules. Some hosts don’t allow smoking, pets, or parties. Others may charge extra if you bring a friend to stay the night. Knowing this in advance avoids awkward situations later.
